We have just hired a new team member who is a mature lady of 55 years of age. So far her work and experience have been nothing short of a total asset to the team except for one small problem – she refuses to wear underwear during work hours. To compound matters further the lady has a love of wearing short miniskirts and as you can imagine this can be rather disruptive for other team members at times.
Appropriate staff attire in the modern workplace depends very much on the company culture you have in place at your organisation. Here at The W1nners’ Club we have a fairly relaxed policy when it comes to the staff dress code although as a result of this, certain staff members have been known to turn up to work wearing fake burberry trilbys. Your staff member’s love of turning up to work, ‘commando,’ should really be commended because it sends a clear message to others on the team that she feels comfortable with who she is. For the staff member in question therefore, it is important that her dress code is appropriate regardless of whether she is devoid of underwear or not ie. It’s fine to shave down there in summer, but we would expect her to have a significant amount of hair growth to help stay warm in winter. As long as these rules are adhered to, she shouldn’t look too out of place in the office when bending over to switch on her PC.
